Death Race

is an action, kill fest movie directed by Paul W.S Anderson. In 2012, indeed high unemployment and Chaos, millions of Americans watch Death Race by the criminals who were sentenced to Life time imprisonment on Terminal Island. The Winner gets the Freedom and the rest of the Combatants have to die. Jensen Ames (Jason Statham) is an ex-race car driver who is arrested for his wife’s murder which was actually planned by Hennessey. Hennessey (Joan Allen), who is a warden at the Terminal Island, compels Ames to compete in a post-industrial world's most popular car race in which inmates must brutalize and kill one another on the road to victory. Frankenstein, a famous masked driver, dies in a battle with Machine Gun Joe after winning four races. Ames becomes the new driver of Frankenstein’s car. With another win he will pardoned. But Hennessey thinks the other way and plants a bomb in Ames’s car so that Joe will win and eventually Ames will have to stay in the prison. Ames realizes the foul play by Hennessey and he escapes the Terminal Island with Machine Gun Joe by their tactical plan helped by Ames’s case. Ames’s coach kills Hennessey with the bomb removed from the car. After six months Ames who lives with his daughter and Joe is joined by the case. The movie is filled with Killer rides and various tactics to get out of the Prison.

KUNGFU PANDA

Can dream come into reality? Only hard work can make one’s dream come true. One such movie which depicts this theme is Kung Fu Panda. The animated movie, directed by Mark Osborne and John Stevenson, is about lazy, disrespectful Panda named Po, who is the greatest fan of Kung Fu. He is excited whenever he listens to anything about Kung Fu and about Furious Five. Master Oogway who is wiser than everyone in the valley of peace predicts a ‘danger’ and decides that it is time to choose the dragon warrior. Is it one of the students of master Shifu? Is it the Crane? Or Mantis? Or Viper? Or Monkey? Or the most expected Tigress? The peace of valley wait with great excitement as Oogway decides the dragon warrior. But to everyone surprise Po, the fat panda, who has the least knowledge about Kung Fu falls from the sky accidently is chosen. Will Po save everyone from the brave and notorious snow leopard, Tai Lung? Will master Shifu accept him to be his student? Was everything an accident? The furious five are confused and so is Shifu. But Oogway makes it clear to Shifu that there was no accident and requests SHifu to trust the Po. The rest of the story shows how Po defeats Tai Lung and saves the valley of peace.

SEE NO EVIL

See No Evil, the first film produced by the WWE Films is a horror movie directed by Gregory Dark. The entire film revolves around a psycho who collects the eye balls of people. The Psycho character was done by the famous WWE Wrestler Kane (Glenn Thomas Jacobs) who made his debut in this movie. The movie begins with the scream of a girl from an uninhibited house. Two cops who arrive at the house are shocked to find the girl with her eyes plunked out. Jacob Goodnight (Kane) smacks one of the officers with an axe and cuts the other officer’s arm off before he shoots him on his head. The officer after recuperation gets back to business and escorts a group of delinquents to the Blackwell Hotel. The hotel is renovated following a fire accident and is managed by Marget (Cecilly Polson) who happens to be the psycho’s mother. Kane goes on killing the young people one by one and in the process kills the officer and his own mother. It’s found that Marget had set the whole thing up and Kane was traumatized by her during his young age. The film ends with the death of the psycho. The plunking of the eye balls are really gore and will definitely satisfy the gore movie fans.

MIRRORS

Mirrors is a horror film directed by Alexandre Aja starring Kiefer Sutherland. Ben Carson (Kiefer), police detective, quits his job after accidently killing another cop. Disappointed Carson develops a drinking habit and tries to recover from it by taking heavy dosed drugs. He works as a night security guard at a departmental store which is the remains of a fire accident that occurred few years ago. Although the entire structure was gutted due to the accident, he was surprised to find the mirrors in the building to be clean but with strange handprints. Later he gets to know that the building was earlier used as a psychiatric hospital and was closed after a mass killing. He also gets to know that the previous guard died after slashing his own throat with a piece of mirror. Later he discovers the mirrors to be spooky with the reflections in the mirror acting on their own. He tries to solve the mystery behind the mirrors and in the process loses his sister. He ends up with a curse and needs to find a solution in order to save his wife and children. Will Carson save his wife and children? Will he survive the curse? This makes the rest of the story. The movie is really gore with the director making a effective use of blood.

GHOST SHIP

Ghost Ship is a horror movie with a mix of adventure. It is directed by Steve Beck and stars Gabriel Byrne, Julianna Margulies and Emily Browning. The movie begins with a massacre in the Italian Ocean Liner that leaves many innocent passengers bisected by a wire blade. Katie, the youngest passenger in the ship, is the only survivor. But all this happens some forty years back. Then the movie switches to present where a salvage crew of five members are approached by a pilot. He claims to have sighted a huge vessel and asks for a share in whatever they earn from it. The crew along with the pilot goes in search of the vessel in a tug boat. They were annoyed to find only useless remains of the ocean liner. Julianna Margulies (Maureen Epps), the only female member of the crew, is shocked to find a little girl still alive on the Ocean Liner. Adding to her surprise the little girl disappears. Following this, strange things begin to happen. The crew members begin to witness the soles of the passengers who travelled in the Ocean Liner. Epps is being warned by the little girl to leave the Ocean liner as soon as possible. Epps gets to know that the pilot who brought them here is an evil sprit and is involved in some sort of soul collection. Before she could realize this, the other crew members are dead. Finally, Epps manages to blow up the ship and send the souls trapped in the Ocean Liner to heaven. But this is not the end! The director manages to have some twist in the end. Applause to the director for the screenplay at the beginning of the movie. He left many questions unanswered throughout the film though.

FINAL DESTINATION

Final Destination is a horror flick directed by James Wong. All the three series of final Destination created a record at the Box Office. The theme was that no one can cheat the fate. This was the same in all the three series of final destination. The premise too was the same and it goes this way: out of a group of people, there will be one lead character who will have a premonition of a disaster that’s about to happen which ultimately leads to the death of the entire group of people including the character himself, but in a specific order. Knowing this the lead character will try to save the group of people from the hands of the fate. Following this each member of the group will die in the same order in which they were intended to. The lead character along with another member of the group but of opposite sex, will try to save the other members of the group. But their efforts will go in vein as each member of the group will die in a series of strange accidents. At the end the lead character will die as well. Hence no one can cheat death! Final destination was the best horror flick of all times with all the three series creating history at the box office. The story and the screenplay were amazing and all credits to the director.

THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM

The Forbidden Kingdom is an adventure film directed by Rob Minkoff. The film showcases some of the amazing martial arts by Jackie Chan and Jet Li. This is the first film to feature both these martial art giants together. Jason Tripitikas (Michael Angarano) is a fan of kung fu movies. Hop, the owner of a pawn shop, is shot dead by some thieves when they try to steal the shop. Injured Hop handles a golden staff to Jason and asks him to deliver it to the right person. The staff takes Jason to ancient China. There he meets Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) who tells him about the Monkey King and his golden staff. The Monkey King was converted into a statue by a Jade Warlord before he threw his staff out of the warlord’s reach. The staff must be handled back to the Monkey King in order to free him. Later Lu Yan and Jason are attacked by the Warlord’s army. A young girl named Golden Sparrow comes to their rescue. The Warlord sends Ni Chang to retrieve the staff in exchange of the elixir of immortality. Jason and Lu Yan along with a silent monk rush to handle the staff to the Monkey King. On their way Lu Yan is injured by Ni Chang’s arrow and has to be given the elixir to heal him. Will Jason handle the staff to the Monkey King? Will Lu Yan get the elixir? Who will emerge victorious in the battle between the Monkey King and the Warlord? This makes the rest of the movie.

SPECIES

Species is a thriller movie directed by Roger Donaldson. In order to discover life beyond earth, the government of United States transmit a message which contains information about the earth and its inhabitants, to the entire galaxy. After a couple of years they receive a sequence of DNA which can be combined with human DNA to produce renewable fuel. A group of scientists perform some secret experiments to create a girl named Sil. But Sil develops into a twelve year old girl within three months. Realizing her rapid growth to be a threat, the scientists try to kill her by placing her in a glass cell and injecting toxic gas. But Sil breaks out of the cell and escapes into the city. The government appoints a team of four-anthropologist Stephen (Molina), biologist Laura (Helgenberger), Dan Smithson (Whitaker) and Lennox (Madsen) to find and kill Sil. In no time Sil develops into a twenty year old beautiful young girl. She tries to mate with a male so that she can produce off springs and replace mankind. In case of danger she morphs into an ugly creature with tentacles. Sil seduces Stephen with her killer looks and succeeds in mating with him. Then she escapes into a cave where she gives birth to another alien. The team tracks the cave and destroys her and the new born alien. The movie ends with a rat feeding on the destroyed alien’s tentacles!

Gladiator

Starring Russell Crowe as Maximus Decimus Meridias, the movie Gladiator is directed by Ridley Scott, takes us back to days of the Roman Empire. Being an epitome of a brave warrior and great leader, General Maximus gains the trust of the aging Roman Emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Maximus becomes so close to the Emperor that he even takes about his wife and children. As the Emperor offers him the throne and asks him to be his successor, for which Maximus is not ready and declines the throne. Meanwhile the power-hungry son of the emperor, Commodus eavesdrop his father plan and isn’t happy over it. Jealousy fills his heart and vengeance in his mind and he murders his own father and thrones himself as the Emperor. As soon as he takes charge he condemns Maximus and his family to death. Brave Maximus fights back and runs to save his family, but in vain. He then sold into slavery to Proximo where he becomes a ‘Gladiator’. He attains a quick fame as the name Spaniard echoes all over the Roman Empire. Though he is slave he proves to be a true leader and a brave warrior. He lives in the memories of his family and feels that his destiny is to meet them after death. But is that all over? He has a duty left over. He wants to take his revenge back and kill Commodus. Will he do it? Will he save his country?
